Elaine and Brandon

The wedding of Elaine and Brandon was held at the Crescent House in Valdosta, Ga, on November 15th, 2008. I always enjoy shooting weddings at the Crescent.

I met Elaine and her bridesmaids at the salon for some getting ready shots.

When the girls returned to the Crescent to finish getting ready I met up with Brandon and the groomsmen for for photos.

I went back up stairs to finish shooting the girls while they finished getting ready.

The gardens at the Crescent always make a great backdrop for photos. Brandon and Elaine had it set up with tables for the reception. It is also where I chose for them to see each other for the first time.

Don't they make a great looking couple?

The wedding party was a fun group to work with!

Elaine and Brandon chose to have a candle lit ceremony and reception.

After the ceremony the party really got started!

Elaine and Brandon spent the rest of the evening dancing and having a great night.

Shalena and Marshall- November 8, 2008

As promised I am getting caught up on my blogging. This is a wedding I shot back in November. Shalena and Marshall. Shalena and Marshall were married in Leesburg, GA. They had a really pretty wedding with gorgeous red roses everywhere. There were so many great images from this wedding that I am only going to be showing you a few of my favorites from this wedding. I am a sucker for first dance photos. They are always some of my most favorites. I think its because the bride and groom are so happy and getting relaxed after the ceremony. I just love first dance photos, especially these.

New York City

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great holiday season. I know I did! As you may have noticed I have been a bit behind on blogging lately. So over the next month you will be seeing some posts from 2008 weddings and sessions as well as more recent shoots.

Today I want to share what I have been up to. In my previous blog post I mentioned my graduation. As a graduation gift I sent myself to New York City. Stacy, one of my best friends, has been living in the Manhattan so I stayed with her and we spent the week sight seeing and having fun in NYC.

Here is a photo Stacy took of me riding the subway and enjoying my morning Red Bull. I loved riding the subways in New York. It was certainly the fastest way to get from place to place.

I had planned to doing alot of photography while in the city, but due to the weather I did not take my professional equipment out with me for most of the trip. Most of the time I was in New York it was either raining or snowing. I will start off with some images from the one sunny day I spent in New York. These images are from the top of the Empire State Building.

This is one of my favorite images from the trip.

The rest of the images are from my point and shoot camera.

We spent one morning standing outside of the Today Show. We spent hours working on our signs. We got in line at 5am. It was so cold. I don't think that I have ever been that cold in my life. Here are Stacy and I with our signs representing our hometown!

We ended up making it on the show for about 8 seconds. I was able to meet Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, and guest star Jason Marz!

These next photos are from Central Park. I had a great time exploring the park and playing in the snow. Being from the South seeing snow is a very rare thing. I built my first snowman, made a snow angel and threw some snow balls. It was alot of fun.

I had an awesome time in NYC. I visited MoMa, saw a few shows on Broadway, did a great deal of shopping, and enjoyed the all the sights and sounds of the city. The week before Christmas is a great time to be in NYC. I can't wait to go back!

Graduation Day!

Lindsi Jones is a college graduate!! After years of hard work and sacrifice I have finally graduated from Valdosta State University. It has been a long road, many times I wanted to give up but I kept at it and kept pushing and today all of my hard work paid off. I now have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art with a Major in Fine Art Education. I am very happy and excited to have completed my degree and am looking forward to what the future holds.

Getting ready for Christmas

I have been in a crazy rush to get everything ready for Christmas this year. As I have mentioned many times before I recently finished student teaching, and will be graduating this Saturday, December 13th, from Valdosta State University and will receive a Bachelors in Fine Art with a Major in Fine Art Education. Finally! So the past few weeks have been filled with me rushing to get everything finished up for school, shooting weddings, editing weddings, and cramming in as many photo shoots as possible. I just wanted to share a couple of images with you to get into the Christmas spirit.

I will start with the Perry Family. I love the tree in the background of this photo.

I am editing like crazy right now so that means more blog posts on the way! Also I will be spending all of next week in New York City with my camera in hand. I have a few photos shoots scheduled while I am there, and will be doing plenty of site seeing/shoot so be sure to check back!

I have been very behind on my blogging lately, but I promise to get you completely caught up with many new blog posts in the next few days. I have been editing and shooting like crazy lately.

So now lets get to Brittany and John's wedding. I shot this wedding in October. It was such a nice pretty fall day. We started out with a few getting ready shots of Brittany.

Tracy and Jared were married at the beautiful Alcyone Plantation. If you are planning a wedding and looking for a great venue Alcyone Plantation is a very pretty place. The property is located 15 miles south of Valdosta, Georgia and is perfect for weddings. I really enjoyed shooting there. Brittany and Jeremy - September 27, 2008

Om September 27 I shot Brittany and Jeremy's Gin Creek wedding. Gin Creek is a wedding venue outside of Moultrie, GA. If you are looking for a great outdoor location for a wedding Gin Creek is a great choice.

Brittany had the most beautiful dress.

Brittany was looking pretty beautiful herself.

Jeremy was looking pretty sharp also.

I had a great time shooting Brittany and Jeremy's engagement session, and I knew I would have alot of fun shooting their wedding. I love working with these two, they were such a great couple. There first moment together was so sweet.

There ceremony was held under the Pergola.

Brittany and Jeremy took most of their wedding photos before the ceremony, but we took a little extra time after the ceremony while the guests headed over to the reception for a few more photos.

Jeremy carried Brittany in and out of the cotton field for this photo. I am glad that he did.

The reception was a blast. Brittany and Jeremy were showered with bubbles while they had their first dance.

I have mentioned this before, but for those of you that don't know I am a student at Valdosta State. The degree I am working on is a Bachelor in Fine Art, with a major in Art Education. This is my last semester. I will graduate on December 13! YAY! As and Art Education major you spend your last semester of school student teaching. I am doing my student teaching at Lowndes High School teaching 9-12 grade Drawing, Visual Arts, and Ceramics.

I was asked to help the Art Honor Society at Lowndes with a fund raising project. The club had an idea to sell t-shirts with a photo of Martin Stadium on the back. Since I am a photographer I offered to shoot the image for them.

This was shot at last Friday's home game against Colquitt County.

In Memory of Jose Prida

In Memory of Papa

Today, after a very long and difficult battle with cancer, my grandfather Jose "Papa" Prida passed. As he passed he was surrounded by the people who loved him most, and is now resting in a much better place. I am very sad that he is no longer with us, but relived in knowing that he is no longer suffering. Papa was a great man. His life was an inspiration. He loved his children, grandchildren, the Altanta Braves, but most of all my grandmother, Mama. Even today, the saddest of days, this photo still warms my heart. It was taken 58 years ago on their wedding day. It describes their life together perfectly- happy, beautiful, and in love. This photo inspires me in my own work. It is just a small glimpse into the happy life they shared.

Please keep my family in your thoughts as we endure this difficult time.

Ashley and JT August 9, 2008

My most recent wedding was on August 9 in Valdosta GA. I meet up with the Vickers family again for another wedding. For those of you who don't know in June Ashley's twin sister Lesley got married in Jacksonville and I photographed her wedding also. So after two weddings, two engagment sessions, and a senior portrait session with Ashley and Lesley's cousin Jenna I feel like I am a member of the family. They have been such great people to work with and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

Ashley and JT were married at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, GA.

The day started with a few getting ready photos.

Because Ashley and JT choose to see each other before the wedding I was able to spend alot of time photographing the two of them. Aren't they a cute couple?

Laura and Chance- August 8, 2008

On 8-8-08 I photographed the wedding of Laura and Chance in Doerun, GA. I arrived at the church to find everyone putting the finishing touches on the church and Laura getting ready.

As soon as Laura finished getting ready she and Chance saw each other for the first time, and posed for a few quick shots before the ceremony.

Brittany and Jeremy -Engagement Session

My latest engagement session was with Brittany and Jeremy I will be shooting their wedding this September at Gin Creek, and I am really looking forward to working with them again. When I talked to Brittany about a location she said she was open to anything, so I took advantage of that. We met up in Nashville, and headed down to the Alapaha River. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

I love shooting at, near, around, or in bodies of water. So it didn't take very much time for me to have Brittany and Jeremy get into the river. They were so great to work with because they were up for just about anything. I didn't stay dry for long either.

Back to School

Its back to school time! I started teaching this week myself, student teaching at is, at Lowndes High School in Valdosta GA. For the next few weeks I will be observing classes, and will eventually start teaching classes on my own. I will finish in December and at that time I will complete my Bachelor Degree in Fine Art with a Major in Fine Art Education. I am really excited about that.

In honor of my return to High school, I wanted to share a quick preview from two of my latest Senior portrait sessions. I will be posting more from each of these sessions later in the week.

Meet Jenna. She is a Senior this year. Jenna is from Louisiana she was visiting family in Florida last week and we were able to work out a time for her portraits. I am glad that we did!

Hannah is from the class of 2008. She graduated from Lowndes High School and is headed up to Athens this week to start her first semester at the University of Georgia.

Amy and Jonathan - July 26, 2008

One of the perks of being a photographer is travel. My last weekend I traveled to Savannah, GA for Amy and Jonathan's wedding. I came to town a day early so that I could spend some time looking around, shopping, and just enjoying Savannah. I had a really nice time in Savannah and look forward to returning.

Amy and Jonathan were an awesome couple to work with. We started out the wedding day at the hotel where Amy and Jonathan were getting dressed.

We set aside alot of extra time on the wedding day for photos of just Amy and Jonathan. Amy really wanted to take advantage of the great photo locations that Savannah has to offer, and so did I. We started out in one of the squares near the hotel. This is where Amy and Jonathan saw eachother for the first time.

We then started our tour of Savannah for photos. It was really hot out, but Amy and Jonathan were troopers.

We then made our way to the church to meet up with the rest of the wedding party.

Tammie and Patrick - July 19

This past February I met up in Tifton with Tammie and Partick for their engagement session. The big day family came. On July 19th Tammie and Patrick were married at Victory Baptist Church in Tifton, GA. After a 3 weekend break from shooting I was really happy to get back to work. Laura and Chance- Engagement Session

I have had a few weeks off from shooting. Some it if I spent getting caught up on album and print orders, going on a vacation and also having my wisdom teeth removed. I have spent the past week recovering from that but before I went under the knife I did shoot an engagement session. I met Laura and Chance at the ABAC campus. This is without doubt one of my favorite places to shoot. Chance and Laura will be married on August 8th and I can't wait for the wedding. My Travels

Last week my Dad and I went on a trip to North Carolina. We traveled around shopping and sight seeing. It was really nice to be away for a few days, and the weather was awesome. Weather was in the 70s and 60s at night, No humidity, and no mosquitoes. GREAT. I did not take a great deal of photos while I was on vacation but I did get a few. Nikki and Noah- June 21, 2008

My most recent wedding was of Nikki Carter and Noah Coker. The wedding was held at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the reception at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Cetner, which is located on the ABAC campus in Tifton, GA. I met up with Nikki and Noah at the church for getting ready photos and family photos before the ceremony. I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorite images from the day to just a few for this blog post because there were so many good ones. So here are a few images from the day. Enjoy!

After the ceremony, while the guests were busy having hordevers' and drinks at the reception hall, the wedding party and I went over to the Abraham Baldwin College campus for wedding party photos and for photos of Nikki and Noah. ABAC has a very pretty campus, and a beautiful old chapel. I love shooting here.

I think its great when I get to do fun wedding party photos like this one.

Nikki and Noah are big UGA fans. They both graduated from UGA and now live in the Athens area. So it was no surprise that Noah would have a UGA grooms cake. Check it out. His mother made it. Isn't it cool?

Anyone that talks to me about my work will quickly know that I am a sucker for dramatic lighting in photographs. I was walking through the reception hall and noticed this dark empty room with this one strong light source from the ceiling and I had to take Noah and Nikki to it for some images. I love the result.

Lesley and Chuck June 7, 2008

One of the cool things about being a wedding photographer is that you often get the chance to travel. I will be traveling more this wedding season and I am enjoying it so far and looking forward to my next few out of town weddings. My last wedding took me to sunny Florida. I spent the weekend in Orange Park, FL for Lesley and Chuck's wedding, at the Winterbourne Inn which is on the St. Johns River. It really is a great location if you are planning an outdoor wedding in the Jacksonville area. They have a great staff. I enjoyed working there.

We started out the day at Lesley's hotel with getting ready photos of her and some of her bridesmaids.

I especially like this one of Lesley and her mother.

We then headed over to the Winterbourne where Lesley got into her dress.

Often in my blog talk about how much I enjoy it when couples meet for photos before the wedding ceremony. Lesley and Chuck choose to do this. I love this image from their first moments together.

Mathis Family

For those of you who visit my blog often you will notice some big changes. I hope you enjoy the new look of the blog, and the best part is that the photos in the blog will now be much larger. YAY! Without further delay here is the Mathis Family.

Last week I photographed the Mathis Family. We had a beautiful location for this family portrait session and the mosquitoes were kind enough to not attack us while we were shooting. I was happy for that. Here are a few photos from the session.

We also did some portraits of their two adorable children.

I think this photo is my most favorite. The kids really had a good time with the horses.

Berrien County Schools

As most of you may know I am from Berrien County and a product of the Berrien County school system. So when I was called by the superintendent to work with them on the new website I was happy to do so. I spent a few hours at each school in the system photographing it's students, teachers, and staff. I had alot of fun touring my old school buildings and seeing many of my former teachers. A few of the photos can now be seen on the school's website. They can be found in the slide show at the top of site. Check it out, you may see someone you know.

Amber and Justin- June 1, 2008

On June 1st traveled to Saint Simon's Island for a wedding, but this time I was not the main photographer. This weekend I worked as a second shooter for Tallahassee wedding photographer Mary Beth Tyson. As a second shooter your job is to shoot from a different angle as the main photographer, concentrate on details, and candid shots. This was my first time working as a second shooter and I really enjoyed it. The wedding party dressed and prepared for the ceremony at the Sea Island Golf Club. It is a really beautiful place. Here are a few of my shots from the day. Enjoy!

The ceremony was held at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Brunswick. It was a very beautiful old church with huge stained glass windows. I loved architecture inside of this church.

Amber's parents were also married at St. Mark's.

After the ceremony we headed back to the Sea Island Golf Club for wedding party photos under the oaks. Justin and Amber were so happy.

Jennifer and Tony

On May 24 I photographed the wedding of Jennifer and Tony at the Nashville Methodist Church. I love shooting weddings at the Methodist church in Nashville not only because it is a very beautiful old church full of great stained glass but because I grew up going to this church. My parents, and some of my best friends were all married here. I feel very comfortable when I shoot at this church.

Jennifer and Tony's wedding was great. We had perfectly clear weather with bright blue skies. Tony and Jennifer were such a sweet couple. I had a really great time working with them. Here are a few images from the day. Enjoy!

I love this detail shot of Tony's tux.

I love when couples choose to see eachother before the ceremony. By doing this it really takes the stress that can come with preparing for a wedding ceremony away, and gives the couple a chance to spend a little time alone together admiring eachother. It's very exciting. Tony and Jennifer choose to do this and I love the series of images that resulted.

Photographer, Car and Sky

I spent today being artsy. I went to the opening of the Best of Spring Into Art show at the Turner Center. I have a photo juried into that show. Click here to read more about that.

After the show I came home to a really crazy storm. The wind was insane, rain came down, and lightning was everywhere. I LOVE LOVE LOVE storms. I like to sit out on my front porch and watch them. I have been doing this since I was a child.

After the rain and wind passed the lightning kept up so I drove my car to the middle of the field across from my house and sat out with my camera to try to catch some lightning. This is not an easy task. You have to be patient, have some technical knowledge, and you also need a good bit of luck. You never know when or if a good bolt will show up so you have to be ready for it. By the time I got all set up the storm was pretty much over and the big bolts of lightning had ended. I did not have the luck part tonight. :-) Lately I haven't had much spare time to just play around and make art with my camera so tonight I did. Here is one of my experiments. I call it Photographer, Car, and Sky. If you click the photo it will enlarge. You should do that because you really can't see any detail here.

Sorry guys. I have been a little behind on my blogging here lately. I have a few out of town weddings this month so between that and it being the middle of wedding season I am swamped.

On Saturday May 17, 2008 I photographed the wedding of Christina and Charlie at the Moody Air Force Base Field club. The wedding was held outdoors and the reception in inside the club. So far this year the weather has been almost perfect and this wedding date was no exception. Not a dark cloud in the sky. Here are a few photos from the day. Enjoy!

Charlie and Christina choose to see each other before the wedding. I love when couples do this because their reactions to each other are priceless. Here is the happy couple seeing each other for the first time.

After seeing eachother we walked around the ceremony site for some photos.

The wedding was filled with sentimental details. The two rings in the photo match and have been passed down through Charlie's family.

Riley Kate McMillan is here!

I am so excited I had to blog. My sister Christy (ok she is not really my sister by blood, but she is the closest I have to one) and her husband Brett had their first baby yesterday. Riley Kate McMillan was born at 10:32 at Tift Regional Hospital on May 21, 2008. We were all very worried because Christy had been very ill this week and had to have and emergency C section a few weeks before her planned due date, but every thing turned out great. Riley was born in great health weighing in at 6 pounds 14oz and Christy is looking forward to a smooth recovery.

Here is Brett bringing Riley out to show us for the first time. This was just minutes after she was born.

As a photographer I am often asked about what I do and how I do it. I am asked things like "Can you do this for the rest of your life?" , "Are you satisfied with just being a photographer?". The photos I am showing you here should be the answer all of those questions. Yesterday I as held my camera I recorded the first day of someone's life. The first time she was held by her father, the first time her mother looked at her, the happy faces of grandparents as they saw their new grandchild are captured forever because of me.

Photography is about time, it is about life, it is about love, and taking all of this and being able to hold onto it forever. Being a photographer is not just about snapping pictures, its about taking these moments and turning them into images that will never be forgotten. Whether is it the first time a baby is welcomed into the world by its family, the smile of a teen ready to graduate, or the first time a husband kisses his wife, I feel that being able to capture these moments is the most rewarding thing that I could possibly do with my life, and I can't image doing anything else.

I spent this past weekend in Jacksonville, FL shooting the wedding of Amy and Larry. I love Jacksonville, so needless to say it was a great weekend. The wedding was held under the Treaty Oak at Jesse Ball duPont Park and the reception was at The Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk. It was a nice ceremony and the weather was great! On Sunday May 4th I photographed the wedding of Paige McMillan and Flynt Owens. I was really excited to be shooting it because Paige and I go way back, way way back, all the back to the days of T-ball. She had originally planned to get married in October on a date I already had booked, but when the date was changed to May 4th I was able to do it and I am so glad I could. On May2nd Relay for Life is taking place at the Valdosta Middle School Track. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature event. At Relay, people from within the community gather to celebrate survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and to fight back against this disease. Relay participants help raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society in its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue.

Jessica and Justin

On April 5th, I headed back down to Thomasville, GA to shoot the Wedding of Jessica and Justin. The wedding was held at Mrytlewood Plantation. This wedding was extra special because it rained, rained, and then rained some more. I have always heard that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck. If that is true then Jessica and Justin are going to have more luck than two people need!

Here are a few shots of Jessica. She was a really pretty bride.

We shot most of the wedding photos inside the Mrytlewood Logde.

Because of the rain the ceremony had to be moved indoors. We moved all of the furnishings out of the lodge and got ready for a ceremony. Here is Justin coming it. The rain didn't phase him a bit.

The rain let up for a few brief moments after the ceremony, and gave us just enough time for a few photos.

3. Look to the bottom of the post and you will see the word COMMENTS, sometimes there might be a number in front of it which tells you how many other people have already left a comment. Look at the screen shot below to see exactly where to find the link. I circled it for you.

4. After you click the on COMMENT another window will pop up for you to type and submit your comment to me. If you have a pop up blocker running it might block the comment window. If so just disable the pop up blocker and try again.

5. When you get to this screen type away! Then choose who you want to post as. If you don't have a blogger account thats OK you can choose to just leave your name or you can choose Anonymous.

6. Click PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT and you are finished! Its that simple!

This past Saturday, April 12, I photographed the wedding of Lacey and Shane, in Douglas, GA. This was probably one of the most enjoyable weddings I have ever shot. Lacey and Shane were so relaxed and comfortable in front of my camera. Lacey and Shane choose to see each other before the ceremony. This is great because it gives plenty of time for photos. We had alot of fun shooting. I had a very hard time choosing to which photos to include in this blog post because there are so many I like. I can't wait to finish editing all of them. Here are a few from the day enjoy!

These next two are my favorites. Shane drives an classic red Chevy Nova. I was sure to include his awesome car in the photos.

Yes. Lacey wore white Converse Chuck Taylor's on her wedding day. How cool is that?

We were mildly stressed at the start of the day because it was raining and the reception was planned to be outdoors, but by the time the ceremony was over the rain clouds went away and left us with this awesome blue sky.

I love how happy they are in these!

An actual rainbow showed up to the reception. Isn't it pretty?

Spring Into Art Exhibition

Going on currently at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts in Valdosta is the annual Spring Into Art Exhibition. What is the Spring into Art exhibition? Each year the Turner Center holds this event to exhibit work from local and regional artists and to help raise money for the center. Each artist may enter up to 2 pieces of work. All of the art work is for sell and a portion of the purchase price goes to the Turner Center. They also have a great opening for the show with drinks and all sorts of food, which they sell tickets for. This year there were over 400 entries from over 200 artists. The exhibition is also a competition. 12 of the 400 entries are selected to be on the pages of the Colson Printing Company calender, and 45 of the 400 are juried, which means they are selected to be a part of another show called Best of Spring Into Art. There are also prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and several honorable mentions awarded. The winners of these awards will announced at the Best of Spring Into Art show which opens in June.

The opening for the show was held this Monday. It was alot of fun. My Dad was my date and we had a great time. Many of my friends, professors, and fellow artists were there. As I browsed the gallery looking for my work I was thrilled to see that one of my entries "Pool Sharks" was juried into the Best of Spring into Art. This is exciting because it was selected out of 400 as one of the best. What makes it even more exciting for me is that this particular photo is from a wedding, which helps to prove that wedding photography is art. This was also my first time being juried into the "Best of".

My good photographer friend Jill Higgins was also juried into the "Best of" show. Check out her blog to see her juried photo and also a few funny photos of us from the opening.

On Saturday March 29, I traveled to Thomasville, Ga for the wedding of Lindsay and Lee. The wedding was held at Mrytlewood Plantation. It was a very pretty location and a great place for an outdoor wedding. The weather was perfect! I would like the thank everyone involved in this wedding for being so relaxed and patient with me( you will see why at the end of this post). I am lucky to have such wonderful clients! Spring is here!

Happy Easter!! In the sprit of spring and all of the pretty things happening in nature (minus the pollen). I went out to my Nana's this afternoon with my camera in hand. My Dad called me to come over because he wanted a photo of this....

Isn't it pretty? Its a Luna Moth. They only fly after dark, but this one had recently hatched from its cacoon and was drying out its wings. I love the colors of this moth. I had no idea something this exotic looking could be found in South Georgia.

My Nana loves to watch birds and has feeders all over her yard. She especially loves Humming Birds. I found a good hiding spot and patiently waited to get some shots of the Humming birds. These guys are very fast! (you can click on these photos to make them larger)

I think it looks like this Humming bird is saying "Ok just take the picture so I can get back to my beverage. Thank you. "

With any type of art work, or photo I struggle to give it a title. I tried really hard to give these shots titles. I like them :-).

When I am not photographing people I do enjoy photographing nature when I get the chance. I have a small gallery of nature shots on my site. Most of them are several years old but if you would like to see more click this link to see a slide show of nature photos.

On March 17th, I met Ashley and JT for their engagement session. They chose to have their session in downtown Valdosta. I like shooting in downtown Valdosta because there are so many different areas to use as a backdrop for photos. JT and Ashley were a really fun couple to work with, we had a really good time shooting this session. I am ready for the wedding! Here are a few images from the session. Enjoy!

Normally you will hear me gripe about the random graffiti that can be found all over downtown Valdosta, but I do like this one piece someone drew in this old window. I couldn't resist using it for this photo. I love the next 3 images. They are my favorites!

Valdosta State Student Art Competition

This Monday March 17th was the opening for the annual VSU student art competition. The student art competition is a juried competition. Each student was allowed to enter up to 4 pieces. a Judge then selects which pieces go into the show and which do not, then the judge selects the winners. There was alot of really great worked entered and some really cool stuff selected to be in the show.

I had one piece selected for the show, which is great. I also won an Honorable Mention. YAY! Of course it was a photograph. I was really happy about getting into the show and winning a prize because this is will be my last year to enter the show. I graduate in December! Here is the image I entered. I need to get to the gallery to take a photo of it with its frame, and my name tag, and prize ribbon. For now you will just have to imagine the frame being there.

Wedding season is here. This weekend, March 15, I shoot my first wedding of the season. I am so happy wedding season is here because I love shooting weddings.

This weekend I photographed Eden and Alan. They had a beautiful outdoor wedding at the their home in Chula, GA. I love outdoor weddings. The only negative thing about them is that you never know what sort of weather may come. At this wedding we had it all, warm breezes, cool breezes, a little bit of rain, some sun, and especially very high winds. The wind on Saturday was unreal. Even with the crazy weather it was still a great wedding. Here are a few photos from the day. Enjoy!

I met up with Paige and Flynt on Sunday, March 9th at Circle Stone Country Club for a quick engagement session. It was a nice sunny day with a beautiful blue sky. Brittany and John

On March 2nd, I headed to Adel, Ga to meet with Brittany and John for their engagement session. We went to Reed Bingham State Park. Due to all of the rain we have been having Reed Bingham was half underwater and VERY muddy! Needless to say my feet and pants where pretty nasty after this shoot. Brittany and John wanted to have some photos with their puppy. Her name is Georgia. We started the session out with Georgia and finished up by walking around the park. I am really looking forward to working with Brittany and John on their wedding this October. Here are a few photos from the session. Enjoy!

On March 1st I met up with Stacie and Todd for their engagement session. Stacie and Todd own Endless Summer tanning in Valdosta, GA. If you are looking to get tan before your wedding or vacation, Endless Summer is the place to go. It was great meeting Todd and getting to know Stacie. I had a great time shooting their engagement session and can't wait to shoot their wedding this May. Here are a few images from the shoot. Enjoy!

Lesley and Chuck

On February 24, I traveled to Jasper, FL to meet up with Lesley and Chuck for their engagement session. We had been having some pretty nasty weather the week before, but luck gave us a nice day for their session, a little muddy, but nice. I had a great time working with Lesley and Chuck and can't wait for their wedding this June. They are getting married in Jacksonville, FL. I know its going to be a beautiful wedding.

Happy Valentine's Day to all! Whether you are spending it with someone special or if its just another day I hope its a good one.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day I thought I would share some romantic photos from my last session.

Meet Hannah and Yoric. I think they are the most affectionate couple I have ever photographed. I had a great time shooting them. They were both so natural and relaxed in front of the camera. We spent half of our session at Grand Bay, and the other half at an cool old building in Valdosta.

Downtown Valdosta with Keri

Monday night February 12th myself and a group of local photographers got together to do some shooting followed by dinner. We met up around 6:30 for a night shoot in downtown Valdosta. Shooting at night is fun, but also very challenging. Our night was all about working with different flash techniques. We had a beautiful model for our shoot. Keri was so relaxed and natural in front of the camera.

Here are a few of my shots from the night.

After the shoot we went to the Bistro for dinner and conversation. We had a great time! I always look forward to meeting and working with fellow photographers. I look forward to our next get together.

Imaging USA

January 7th, I went down to Tampa, FL to check out the trade show at Imaging USA. Imaging USA is a huge conference for professional photographers. At Imaging USA 100s of vendors gather, and 1000s of photographers flock to check out new products, see demos, attend workshops, meet other photographers and much more. I traveled with my photographer friend Jill Higgins. It was a long drive but we had a really great time.

I was too busy checking out the trade show and buying awesome products to be taking photos, but here are a couple quick snapshots I managed to take with my point and shoot while walking around.

Autumn and Steven- Wedding

Country Bride Gett'in down on the farm

Some where between Shari's wedding and Thanksgiving I made some time for a shoot with my good friend Stacy. I had been really interested in shooting a bride, in her gown, getting dirty, working on a farm. Stacy was kind enough to model for me. I had an awesome time shooting these. Rather than go on and on about the shoot I will share some images.

Herndon Family Thanksgiving

Shari and Brett

On November 3rd I photographed the wedding of Shari and Brett. Shari and I have been friends for a very long time. I was really excited to photograph her wedding. They were married at Hahira Methodist Church and the reception was held at Stone Creek Country Club.

Here are a few images from the day.

They had a very big wedding party.

Brett is a firemen with the Valdosta Firedepartment, so the two of them rode away from the wedding on a firetruck.

We had just enough time to get a few shots in right before the sun went down on the golf course.

Lisa and Joe

October 20 took me to the King and Prince Resort on St. Simon's Island for the wedding of Lisa and Joe. I was really excited about shooting this wedding because I love St. Simon's Island. Its one of my favorite places. Lisa and Joe were an awesome couple to work with and I had a really great time shooting them. They did not have a large wedding party so I was able to focus more time on the two of them. It was great. We went all over the island, but rather than go on and on I will just show you some images.

I love the lighthouse. I love it so much that I couldn't leave without climbing it. It was about to close so we begged the staff to let us go to the top and they did. ;-)

We made a few stops on the way up.

They stayed at the top while I made my way down so I could get this shot. How many people get to have wedding photos from the top of a lighthouse? Lisa and Joe do!

Lisa and Joe were interested in having some casual photos taken as well. They asked their guests and family to all wear khaki and white and we had a photo session down on the beach after the wedding.

A week of sessions

I had 3 sessions the week of October 7th.

On Sunday I spent the afternoon with one of my best friends in the world Emily, and her soon to be husband John. I have been friends with Emily since we were about 4. I will be shooting her wedding in December. I am really looking forward to it.

Last but certainly not least I had another engagement session with Lacy and Shane. Lacy and Shane were a really cool couple to work with. I will be shooting their wedding 0n April 12, 08. Their session took place at Valdosta State's North Campus, and then a little park in Valdosta.

For these photos we climbed on a Merry-go-round. Shane got us going really fast and then he jumped on. I seriously thought I was going to get sick from spinning on this thing. I am really pleased with how the photos turned out though. We were going really fast!

Tara and Mike

Tara and Mike were married on October 6, 2007. They had such a beautiful wedding and reception. The wedding was held at the Nashville United Methodist Church and the reception at the Carter Clark House in Nashville, GA. I have photographed many events at the Carter Clark house, but I have never seen it look as good as it did for Tara and Mike's reception. They did a great job setting everything up.

Down by the River

On September 30, I tired something new to me. I along with several other local photographers headed down to the Florida line with a few models to Trash the Dress.

What is Trash the Dress? After the wedding day is over and the wedding gown is getting ready to be stored away in plastic for the rest of its life some brides and grooms are choosing to do something different, something fun- Dress Trashing. The bride and sometimes the groom also, are photographed in not so clean places, a girl would never dream of going in her wedding gown before the big day. The sessions result in very unique and stunning images.

Why should a bride do this? WHY NOT?!

You’ve made a commitment to your husband. He’s your one and only true love, right? Then you’ll never need the dress again. And no, your daughter won’t wear it in 20-30 years. So you have 3 choices:
1) Suffocate it in plastic and throw it in a closet
2) Show your husband how committed you are by trashing the dress, and get some great fun pictures while you do it!
3) Get some awesome photographs of yourself in that dress so show your daughter, how awesome Mommy was in her gown.

Go ahead, you know you want to. Trash it. Get it dirty. Get it wet. Roll around in the mud. Drench it in the ocean. Totally trash it.

This Trash the Dress session took place down by the river is was awesome! The models were great and willing to do anything, and working with other photographers was fun as well.

The First Blog -Jenny and Chris, April and Josh

I thought a good way to kick things off would be to talk a little about what I have been shooting the past few months, and share a few images.

On September 22, I was honored to shoot the wedding of Jenny McCorvey and Chris West. I have been close friends with Jenny pretty much my whole life, so being able to shoot this wedding was really special to me. Had I not been the photographer, I probably would have been a bridesmaid. They had a beautiful wedding at the Crescent House in Valdosta, GA.
